Stages of a Hero's Journey

Macbeth continued his journey in act two by crossing the threshold. Late at night he kills King Duncan, making this the point of no return. Lady Macbeth acts as a mentor, not only contributing to the clean up of the daggers, but by convincing her husband to kill his king, manipulating Macbeth. Macbeth is too far along his journey to turn back now, he must pray the kings sons dont realize that he is the real murderer, not the guards. Chosing Lady Macbeth as his mentor was a bad decision, not only is he now a murderer, but he may never be able to please his power hungry wife, he may be next on her hit list. To make sure that his journey is not ruined, Macbeth must make sure that Malcolm or Donalbain do not realize that he is the murderer, and make sure that his mentor does not get in his way of completing his journey.

  1. I Agree with your statement that this is the crossing of the threshold for Macbeth and he is unable to turn around now and go back to his ordinary world. Along with that Lady Macbeth is also the mentor. PS. fly pic.
