The true sides of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth come out in act 2. Lady Macbeth, although she is Macbeth's wife and is supposed to be his support, is the one taking control of the situation. She calls Macbeth a coward and says that if the king sleeping had not reminded her of her father, she would have killed him herself. This shows that she may even be more power hungry than Macbeth is. She seems more willing than Macbeth to do whatever it takes to make sure Macbeth takes the throne. If Macbeth had decided not to kill the king, I really think that she would have figured out a way to kill Duncan or just killed him herself. She could be considered the mentor in this play because she strongly encourages Macbeth to cross the threshold. (Which would be taking the throne or even killing the king because he can't turn back.) Lady Macbeth may seem insensitive to some people but the fact that she didn't kill the king because of her father proves she does have feelings. The reason she seems insensitive and looks like a savage is because she is power hungry and she can only get that power through Macbeth. Macbeth obviously wants the throne too but is more bothered by the killing of the king that Lady Macbeth is.
